ELK Studio – From the Heart January Event 2014

ELK Studio From the HeartIt’s been another incredible month!  We decided to serve The Hosanna House, in Opelika, Alabama this month.  Here’s a little about this organization and their mission.  “Through our daily task, Bible studies, group sessions and counseling, it is our desire to present these ladies with the love of Jesus Christ to show them that He has a plan for their lives, while equipping them with the confidence and self-esteem they need to continue on life’s journey. It is a one-year live-in program. We are also one of the few programs in America that will receive pregnant ladies and ladies with small children.”

It brings me such pleasure to tell you that we’ve had 67 crochet projects donated to the center this month that included scarves, hats, mittens, headbands and washcloths!  Take a look!

If you are looking for a group for just fun or maybe take part in our charity events, come join us!

Have a great day and be blessed!

ELK Studio – From the Heart December Event 2013

ELK Studio From the HeartWriting the blog for the results of our ELK Studio – From the Heart charity events brings me a warm and fuzzy feeling.  I’ve come to admire the established core of women that have chosen to take part in serving and meeting the needs of other people.

We decided to serve The Violence Prevention Center, in Belleville,IL this month.  They are a crisis intervention group with a 24hr hotline for women affected by domestic violence.  The center provides a safe place to stay  for the women and children while meeting their needs.

It brings me such pleasure to tell you that we’ve had 120 crochet projects donated to the center this month!  Take a look!

ELK Studio – From the Heart November/2013 Charity Event

ELK Studio From the HeartI can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to share the results from our ELK Studio – From the Heart November charity event.  It’s incredible to see women gather from all over the country to enrich the life of someone else. We had 12 people to join the event this month and here’s a collage I put together of all the donations.

ELK Studio From the Heart Collage November 2013It shouldn’t take you too long to figure out there are more than 12 items in the collage right?  I am so proud to announce that you are looking at 36 wash cloths, 30 hats, 3 scarves and 1 pair of mittens!  The talent and heart of these women are beyond measure, and I consider it such an honor to work with them.  I would like to acknowledge each person below.

12. Jennifer Stewart- Stew-Art Creations

I want to give a special thank you to Jennifer Stewart from Stew-Art Creations for being the organizer this month.  She chose the location, took great pictures, received all the packages and delivered them.

Jennifer lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and chose the Willis Dady Emergency Shelter as the organization we would proudly serve this month.  The shelter has served over 11,000 homeless single men and families since opening in 1987. They give over 9,000 nights of shelter per year, or roughly a quarter of nights of shelter in Linn County. WDES serves an average of 297 single men and families living or relocating to Cedar Rapids and/or Linn County each year. They provide all services, free of charge to stabilize residents and facilitate progress toward change.

I am so grateful to have shared a vision with the ELK Studio Crocheters group in September and seeing it come to fruition leaves me speechless.  If you would like to learn more about the group or would like to participate in next month’s event, you can jump over to the main page of ELK Studio – From the Heart or email me at elkstudiocrochet@gmail.com.

Have a great day and be blessed!!

ELK Studio – From the Heart

How many of you make hats or scarves to give to some charitable organization or a good cause?  If you are like me, probably quite often.  I always want to help these people and meet these requests if possible.  It has me thinking that besides continuing to give to these folks, I could do something on a more consistent basis.

I started the “ELK Studio Crocheters” group on my Facebook page a few months ago and we really have a good time and help one another.  There’s lots of sharing of business related information, fabulous projects, and words of encouragement.  We’ve even got a little contest coming up in October that’s going to bring tons of laughter!

I told the group what had been on my heart lately about doing some charity work and so many of them were more than willing to help out.  We’ve gotten things organized and named our charity organization “ELK Studio – From the Heart”.  Our first event is in  October and Wendy from The Hooked Haberdasher is the organizer. She has chosen for our donations to go to Crochet for Cancer.

Have a great day and be blessed!
